"A free-spirited, struggling comedian who likes to keep things casual, Ari sublets, takes gigs, and she never sleeps over after hooking up. Born-and-bred Manhattanite Josh has ambitious plans: Take the culinary world by storm, find The One, and make her breakfast in his spotless kitchen. They have absolutely nothing in common . . . except that they happen to be sleeping with the same woman."
You, Again is a wild ride. These two characters couldn't be any more different if they tried. Ari is the embodiment of free-spirited and Josh is wound tight to the thousandth degree. Needless to say, their dynamic is hilarious. They love to hate everything about each other, until one day (both utterly depressed living in the ruins of their respective failed relationships) they bond over their love of hating everything in general. Enemies turn into friends and friends turn into something entirely too complicated. Until one of them finds the courage to admit some hard truths and embrace the love that could only ever be meant for them.
Sometimes it felt too long, but now that I’ve finished it, I have such appreciation for the development of this love story and the investment these two people had to make in each other. “You, Again” really pushed the ‘opposites attract’ trope but it’s so beautiful to see people fall in love for the ways they are different and the things they can teach each other. It was real and raw and modern and I loved it.
I love supporting local, independent, women-owned, and BIPOC bookstores. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of You, Again, may I encourage you to consider buying here? Bookshop (dot) org ensures that every purchase supports local and independent bookstores. Thank you!
