Iris finds herself shattered, alone, and overwhelmed in New York City after losing her mother to cancer. While exploring a food festival, she stumbles across a family-owned gelato shop that she recognizes from her mom's photo album. Wanting to stand where her mother stood, Iris enters and meets the handsome Gio, who confides that the shop is in danger of closing. The sole keep of their family's gelato recipe is in a coma. It doesn't take long for Iris to realize that the shop's gelato recipe is the very same recipe her mother made for her growing. A tangled web of drama ensues as Iris tries to simultaneously discover and hide the truth.

Honestly, I had a few doubts about the plot line initially. It just seemed a bit too cliche, too Hallmark. But I picked it up because Josie Silver really made a positive impression on me with One Day in December. I was not disappointed at all! Such a sweet, interesting, nostalgic, slightly edgy story. I loved it. It took a few chapters to hook me, but once I was hooked, I was really hooked. Iris and Gio, swoon. There's not much hotter than an Italian, family-oriented-to-the-max, loyal-as-all-get-out, single dad, am I right? It's definitely a cozy winter read. I enjoyed it a whole bunch and recommend it to anyone who needs a subtly holiday themed romance novel.

I love supporting local, independent, women-owned, and BIPOC bookstores. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of A Winter in New York, may I encourage you to consider buying here? Bookshop (dot) org ensures that every purchase supports local and independent bookstores. Thank you!
