Lucy Foley’s The Paris Apartment drops readers into a shadowy, menacing Parisian building where every resident seems to be hiding something—and none of them want newcomer Jess anywhere near the truth. When she arrives to stay with her half-brother, Ben, and finds him missing, Jess quickly realizes that the elegant façade of his apartment complex masks a web of secrets, lies, and dangerous entanglements. As she digs deeper into Ben’s disappearance, the story unfolds through multiple perspectives, each one adding another layer of suspicion and tension.

I landed on a four‑star rating for this novel because Foley kept me guessing far longer than I expected. Nearly every character feels like a viable suspect at one point or another, and the shifting viewpoints create a delicious sense of uncertainty about who’s telling the truth. Even once the guilty party comes into focus, Foley doesn’t let the tension slip—there’s still a final twist waiting, one that reframes the story in a satisfying way.

What ultimately made the book such a fun read is Foley’s mastery of the unreliable narrator. She knows exactly how to let characters reveal just enough to intrigue you while still holding back the details that matter most. That balance keeps the story propulsive and immersive, and it’s a big part of why The Paris Apartment works so well as a psychological mystery. It’s atmospheric, twisty, and smartly constructed—an easy recommendation for readers who love suspense with a stylish edge.
