Madison is a Harvard Law student who is determined to follow in her professor's, Judge Kathryn Conroy's, footsteps. Madison can hardly believe her luck when she is personally invited to apply for an internship in Judge Conroy's chambers. This is an opportunity that could make or break Madison's career. But you know what they say, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Danny, Madison's younger brother finds himself in hot water with the law. Not only that, but he also seems to be caught in a complicated and tangled web of corruption. Madison can hardly believe it when she discovers Danny's case is being trampled on by Judge Conroy. Though her life and her brother's life are in real danger, Madison is determined to find the truth at the bottom of this well of lies.
Overall, I enjoyed it. The plot was interesting enough and read at a pace that I found entertaining. The characters themselves weren't super compelling, however there was enough reasonable doubt around Judge Conroy to keep you wondering, "Is she or isn't she?" I really appreciated how all the tangled threads came together in the end.
I love supporting local, independent, women-owned, and BIPOC bookstores. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of The Intern, may I encourage you to consider buying here? Bookshop (dot) org ensures that every purchase supports local and independent bookstores. Thank you!
