Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens follows Laura, a hopeless romantic and features writer who travels to the Channel Islands to chase down what she believes might be the beginning of her own love story. After accidentally picking up the wrong suitcase at the airport, she becomes convinced the owner—picture‑perfect Jasper—is her destiny. As she searches for him, Laura crosses paths with Ted, the gruff but good‑hearted cab driver who ends up becoming her unexpected anchor throughout the trip. The novel blends mistaken identity, family history, and the magic of serendipity into a charming, heartfelt journey across a beautifully atmospheric setting.

It did take me a bit to finish this one. It wasn’t exactly “un‑put‑down‑able,” though I’m willing to admit that might say more about life circumstances than the story itself; so I still want to give four stars. What I can say with certainty is that the novel is incredibly sweet and wonderfully reminiscent of what I’ve come to love about Sophie Cousens’ writing. She has a gift for crafting characters you genuinely want to root for, and this book is no exception. I found myself cheering for picture‑perfect Jasper just as much as I was quietly hoping for perfectly imperfect Ted—and in the end, happily ever after unfolded exactly the way I wanted it to.

Finishing this book cemented something for me: I’m officially a fan of Sophie Cousens. There’s a warmth and sincerity to her storytelling that feels both comforting and delightfully escapist. Even when the pacing isn’t urgent, the emotional payoff is. I’ll absolutely be picking up whatever she writes next.
